Privacy policy

This policy explains what data FontWhirl handles when you use the website. In short: the text you type stays on your device, there are no accounts, and Google Analytics is used to count visits.

Text you type and images you create

The fancy text generator and the font image generator run entirely in your browser. The text you enter, the styled results and the images you create are not sent to or stored on any server operated for FontWhirl. When you copy a result or download an image, it goes directly from your browser to your clipboard or your device.

Data stored in your browser

If you mark styles as favorites, their names are saved in your browser’s local storage under the key fw:favorites. This list never leaves your device, contains only style names and not your text, and is not readable by other websites. You can delete it at any time by removing the favorites or clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Cookies and analytics

FontWhirl uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) and receives your IP address, the pages you visit, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. The text you type into the tools is never sent. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. FontWhirl does not show advertising.

Hosting

The website is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, the hosting provider processes technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the service, such as your IP address, the page requested, and your browser type, which may appear in standard request logs. This information is handled by the hosting provider under its own policies and is not combined with anything you type into the tools.

Future advertising

The site may show advertising in the future to cover its running costs. Ad providers typically use cookies or similar technologies. Before any advertising is added, this policy will be updated to describe it, and where the law requires consent, you will be asked for it before such cookies are set, with the option to refuse.

Children

FontWhirl does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The tools do not collect what you type, and the site has no accounts or forms.

Your rights

Google Analytics processes usage data as described above; you can block it at any time in your browser settings or with Google’s opt-out add-on. FontWhirl itself keeps no account or profile about you, and the favorites list in your browser is under your control. For questions about this policy, use the contact page.

This page will be updated whenever the site’s practices change. The version published here is the one that applies.
